BIOGRAPHY OF EDWARD R. MURROW IN BRIEF

Edward R. Murrow was born on 25, April 1908, in North Carolina. but he grew up in Washington state.

He studied political science, speech, and international relations in university.

After that, he did work in national student federations as assistant director, where he held many lectures and seminars.

Edward’s career took a turn when he was hired by CBS as a Director of talks in 1935.

During that time he shifted to London and an accident occurred when Germany invaded Austria in 1938.

This incident started his career in journalism and did a remarkable job in covering the issue.

When war broke out Murrow became a fixture on American Radio.

He risked his life many times to report about the conditions.

One daring and riskiest work that he did was that he transmitted his reports from the rooftop instead of a closed shelter and this was able to make a blitz to the listeners about what was happening in the situation in reality.

Murrow's coverage during the war made him an American media hero.

After the war, he was appointed as a vice president of CBS but he found it difficult to stay there so he resigned from there.

After leaving CBS he joined the administration of John F.Kennedy where he served as a DIrector of the U.S Information Agency until 1964.

On 27 April 1965, he died in Pawling, New York.
